RV200 Omnidirectional Measurement Microphone

The Red5 Audio RV200 Audio measurement microphone is an omnidirectional electret condenser microphone designed to help get the best sound in any room and can be used to help understand the room’s acoustics. The RV200 is a specialist condenser microphone which can be used with real-time audio analisers to provide an accurate acoustic picture of your room. A graphic equaliser can then be used to fine-tune your system’s performance to perfectly match your own preferences.

The RV200 has an extremely flat frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and omnidirectional polar pattern give you a clear and accurate reading of your room’s individual sound characteristics. The RV200 measurement microphone is phantom powered, from +9V to +52V and would normally be plugged into a mixer for use. The mic comes complete with a wind shield and microphone stand adapter.

Measurement microphones whilst often not the first choice for recording applications, can, under certain circumstances, capture really superb audio. Generally speaking, given that the RV200 has an omnidirectional polar pattern, it is not best suited to close miking. Where can you use them then? Try using them as a spaced pair for stereo recordings.
